This particular artwork is, of course, a nod to the rich heritage of London. This old shop is historic in its own right having withstood the great fire of London in 1666 all the way up to the bombing of London in WWII. That it's also believed to be the inspiration for the Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens only adds to its cachet!
And of course,if you've visited or lived in London, or really Britain in general, you know the rain is a frequent but not quite constant companion. This reminds me of countless museum days where I walked in the wet streets of London to some art gallery or museum. It's just part of the atmosphere of that beautiful old city. And that's mean in a literal and figurative way.
